Obituary: REBECCA LOU HYLTON

Rebecca Martin Hylton, 87, went to her heavenly home on Saturday, December 3, 2022, while a patient at Northern Hospital of Mt. Airy, N.C.

      Visitation will be held Tuesday, December 6, 2022, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., at Colonial Funeral Home Stokes Chapel. Funeral services will follow at 1:00 p.m. with interment following at Pleasant Grove Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, Stuart, Virginia.

      Rebecca worked at Macfield Texturing, Unifi, Inc., and Lowe’s Food (Deli) in Stuart, and left employment to care for her youngest grandchild Carl Aaron Hylton. Everyone probably has fondest memories of “Becky” around Sandy Ridge, Lawsonville, and Stuart, on her little green Kia, and always referred to “as the life of the party.” She so loved every body.

     Becky was preceded in death by her parents, Harry Robert Martin and Gladys Shelton Martin;  three brothers, Aaron Martin, Welbon “Bill” Martin, and George Martin.

      Surviving are her children, Barbara Hylton Hazlewood, Linda Hylton Dillon, Jeffrey Carl Hylton and wife Terri Harrel Hylton, and Michael Wayne Hylton; three grandchildren, Brandon Jarret Hazlewood, Dustin Seaver Hazlewood, and Carl Aaron Hylton; six great grandchildren, Breana Nicole Hazlewood, Richard Gauge Hazlewood, Peyton Aubrey Hazlewood, Madison Paige Hazlewood, Gavin Hazlewood, and Elijah Hazlewood; two great-great-grandchildren, Addison Marie Hazlewood and Paisley Mae Carter; a sister, Lois Amos Rigney and husband Darrell Rigney. Becky is also survived by a close family friend, Eric Pavlic and Orell Shelton, a special friend who preceded her in death.

      Memorials may be made to Oak Ridge Baptist Church, 4128 NC 704 Hwy E, Sandy Ridge, N.C. 27046.

      The family wishes to thank you all for your love and support and most of all, for all your prayers at this season in our lives. 

we know Mama is at peace and is “whole” again.
