Obituary: REBECCA HANSON

Rebecca Hanson, 49, left this earthly life on Tuesday, May 2, 2023 at her home after a courageous fourteen year battle with cancer.

A celebration of her life will be announced in the near future.

Rebecca was born on August 27, 1973 in Davidson County, Tennessee. She obtained a Bachelor’s degree in business and a certificate in physical fitness training. Rebecca, also known by many as Becca or Becky, taught physical fitness and the YMCA in Greensboro and also worked part-time as manager at Golden Antiques and Treasures in Summerfield. She enjoyed daily exercise, visiting the beach, decorating her home and dressing well, as everyone knew her for her “bling.” Spending time with Afton Yarbrough, whom she considered a daughter, brought great joy to Rebecca.

Survivors include her beloved father and step-mother, Robert Hanson and Vivian Andrews; step-sister, Marian McHenry; step-brother, Rud Shupik; mother, Linda Hanson; brother, Travis Hanson (Jana); nephew, Carter Orr Hanson and many special friends and extended family members.
