Ms. Reathy Maye Hart, daughter of the late John Frank Hart and Mary Carter Hart, was born in Reidsville, North Carolina on December 28, 1954.

Reathy, or “Reat” as she was affectionately called by family, was educated in the public schools of Reidsville and graduated from Reidsville Senior High School in 1973. She excelled at North Carolina Central University in Durham, North Carolina, earning a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration in 1977. Upon college graduation, she relocated to Greenville, South Carolina and Atlanta, Georgia working with AT&T until early retirement.

Though she bore no children of her own, the abundant love in her heart allowed her to “mother” her nieces, nephews, other family members and friends. Her wit and humor, her style and grace, and the joy in her laughter made her a phenomenal sister, aunt, and friend. Her warmth, understanding, compassion, and quick-wit made her a favorite aunt. Like clockwork, family and friends could always count on Reat to show up with birthday and holiday cards! She was a rose in the center of a garden; a lady surrounded by the love of family and friends. She will be deeply missed.

Reathy was a member of First Baptist Church where she served on the Nurse’s Corp.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Carolyn H. Davis, brothers, Frankie L. Hart, Larry E. Hart, and Harold E. Hart.

Surviving relatives to cherish and treasure her memory, include: Sisters, Barbara H. Smith and Jacqueline H. Watkins of Reidsville, North Carolina; Glenda H. Slade of Greensboro, North Carolina; Foster Sister, Sandra C. Neal of Reidsville, North Carolina; Uncle, Lincy C. Hart (Carolan) of Bronx, New York; special nieces, Donzaletta D. Whitt and Catina S. Chestnut of Reidsville, North Carolina; special friends, Joan Manns and Sharon Crisp of Reidsville, North Carolina; and an abundance of nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends.
