Obituary: RAYMOND FRANKLIN “FRANK” McLAIN

Raymond Franklin (Frank) McLain, Jr. passed away peacefully at home on June 10, 2025, at the age of 79. Originally from Charlotte, NC, Frank was preceded in death by his father, Raymond McLain, mother, Dorothy Ivey Kidd, sister, Nancy Long, and nephew, Marcus McLemore.

Frank was the beloved husband of Pamela Meeks McLain, proud father of Julian Charles McLain of Mooresville, NC, and Kathy Lowe (Billy) of Sherrills Ford, NC, proud grandfather to Kenny Lowe and Lauren McLain, and loving stepfather to Keli Watkins Hatcher (Jerry). Also surviving him is his sister, Mary Ann McLemore of Monroe, NC, nephew, Wesley McLemore, and niece, Angela Trudeau.

A true patriot, Frank, a Veteran Marine, proudly served his country, including a tour in the Vietnam War where he was meritoriously awarded the Purple Heart, Vietnam Gallantry Cross with Palm, Republic of Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Presidential Unit Citation Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, and Navy Good Conduct Medal.

An avid golfer before his illness, Frank enjoyed playing his favorite courses with friends and his beloved wife, Pamela. A private graveside service, with military honors, will be held on a later date at Arlington National Cemetery.

The family wishes to thank the staff of the W.G. (Bill) Hefner Salisbury Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center and Ancora Compassionate Care.
