Pauline “Polly” Allen Richardson, 96 of Mayodan passed away peacefully Monday, September 9, 2024 at Eden Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center following three years with dementia.

She was born July 22, 1928 in Rockingham County to William Oscar and Ida Terrell Allen, grew up on a farm and spent many years working in the textile industry. She graduated from Stoneville High School and was Salutatorian of her senior class.

Polly lived a life rich with love, faith and creativity. She was a gifted seamstress and cook, an avid reader and had a special love of working with her flowers. She loved to cross stitch and crochet and work the daily newspaper puzzles. She believed in helping others and donated to many charitable causes. She was a member of Deep Springs Baptist Church from an early age until the late 1960’s, and became a charter member of Woodbine Baptist Church in 1970, where she faithfully attended as long as her health permitted. She was involved in many activities and cherished the friendships and fellowship she found within her church family.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years Guy Hampton Richardson and sisters Elizabeth Ann Allen, Virginia Allen Easter and Margaret Allen Dalton.

Polly is survived by daughter Annette Richardson Moore and husband Mike of Eden; grand-children, Scott Moore and wife Gena of Eden and Lori M. Brown and husband Brooks of Bishopville, Maryland; great-granddaughters, Ella, Addison, Leah and Hannah Brown; great-great-granddaughter, Joanna Cordrey.

A celebration of Polly’s life will be held at Ray Funeral Home in Madison Saturday, September 14 at 12:00 noon, with Pastor Jeremy Parker of New Vision Fellowship and music by Tim Greene and Trey Duncan. Visitation at 11:00 am. Burial in Deep Springs Baptist Church Cemetery, Stoneville.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Ancora Compassionate Care, 2150 NC 65, Reidsville, NC 27320. The family thanks caregiver Patricia Edwards for her love and support; Eden Rehabilitation, especially Angel; Ancora Compassionate Care and the staff at Ray Funeral Home.
