Paul Elton King, Jr., 71, left this earthly life on Tuesday, September 20, 2022.
A graveside service will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Friday, September 23, 2022 at Stoneville Municipal Cemetery with Rev. Dr. Patricia Spicer officiating. The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. until 3 p.m. on Friday at Colonial Funeral Home in Madison.
Mr. King was born on March 14, 1951 in Rockingham County to the late Paul Elton King, Sr. and Hazel Vernon King. Paul was a graduate of Stoneville High School and later graduated from Greensboro College. He proudly served his country in the United States Army while in Vietnam and was a member of the American Legion. Paul was a loyal friend and enjoyed his 50 year high school reunion. He enjoyed keeping in touch with Army buddies as well as traveling, skydiving, golfing and flying when he had his private pilot’s license. Paul was faithful to his family. He was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church of Stoneville.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his father-in-law, George D. Gambill, Jr. and wife, Sallie Born Gambill and sister-in-law, Linda Gambill Beck.
Survivors include his wife, Carol Gambill King; brother-in-law, Alan Gambill and wife, Gail; and nephews, Richard Gambill and husband, Robert (Mya and Sid), Shawn Gambill, Justin Gambill and beloved cousins and extended family.
