Pattie McKinney “Pat” Carter, 89, of 3101 Country Ln. went to be with the Lord on Friday, October 7, 2022, at her residence.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Monday, October 10, 2022, in Citty Funeral Home Chapel and burial will follow in Wolf Island Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.
A native of Caswell County, she was a daughter of the late William Prescott and Sadie Walker McKinney and she had lived in Reidsville most of her life. Mrs. Carter was a member of Baptist Temple Church, a former employee of Smothers Warehouse and a farmer’s wife. She loved her family, her home, and her garden, but she was beloved for her hospitality, cooking wonderful meals and sharing her famous yeast rolls with family and friends. Pat was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, John D. Carter, Jr., a son, John David Carter, an infant daughter, Janet Carter, sisters, Evelyn McKinney, Eleanor Shumate, Ailene Talbert, Ramona Stainback, and Betty Grey Pittman, her brothers, Walker McKinney and Jimmy McKinney.
Surviving are sons, Jimmy Carter (Donna) and Jerald Carter both of Reidsville, daughters, Sandra Carter and Patsy Carter both of Reidsville, sister, Carolyn Patillo of Elon, grandchildren, Ryan Ramey (Rick), Heath Carter and his mother, Carolyn E. Carter, Carly Carter and Olivia Carter, great grandchildren, Carter Ramey, Dorsey Ramey, and Mary Prescott Ramey, and many loving nieces and nephews.
The family will see friends from 6:00 till 8:00 PM Sunday, October 9, 2022, at Citty Funeral Home and at other times they will be at the residence. Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
