Patricia Rogers Vassar, a devout child of God, was called to her heavenly home on July 4, 2024, at the age of 80. Born on March 30, 1944, in Eden, NC, Patricia lived a life exemplifying the virtues of humility, gratitude, and an unwavering respect for all of God’s creation.
Her earthly journey was a reflection of the Proverbs 31 woman; she was a source of strength and dignity, spreading love and kindness throughout her community. Patricia’s commitment to her faith and family was evident in every aspect of her life, and her spirit was a guiding light to many.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Harold Vassar, and her beloved children: Wayne Dickerson (Lynne), Mike Dickerson, Sherry Barker (Dale), Tracey Moore (Warren), and Harold Vassar Jr. (Liz). Patricia’s legacy of love continues through her grandchildren: Megan Joyner (Barrett), Ethan Dickerson, Jenny Rhew (Christian), Brooke Dubois (Kyle), Ashley Balay (Kit), and Jeremy Moore (Amanda), as well as her great-grandchildren, Layla Joyner and Elijah Rhew. She also leaves behind her faithful sister, Jeanette Clark (Ernest), her cousins, Dani Steinmetz, Larry and Carol Sigmon, and her sisters-in-laws Linda Kaye Crews and Rita Faye Fisher.
Patricia now rests in the arms of the Lord, reunited with her treasured family members who preceded her in passing: her mother Noney Dell Rowe, her father Leonard Lee Rogers, and her sister Jettie Rogers Baughn (John), along with her brothers-in-law Ernest Crews and Danny Fisher.
A very special thank you to her caregivers: husband Harold, Tammy Harley, Sherry Barker, and Dani Steinmetz for the generous care they provided for Pat.
A service to honor and celebrate Patricia’s life will be held at 2 pm Monday, July 8, 2024, at Boone and Cooke Funeral Home Chapel, located at 7671 NC Highway 770, Eden, NC 27288, officiated by her preacher Tommy Vass and special music by her cousin Michael Walker. Her life was a living prayer, and her memory will be cherished in the hearts of all who were graced by her presence. The family will receive friends from 1 until 2 pm Monday before the service at the funeral home.
