Opal Maxine Sherron Hodges, 81, passed away on Tuesday, September 24, 2024 at her home.

The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, September 28, 2024 at Oak Level Baptist Church with Reverend Jerry Walker officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends beginning at 1 p.m. on Saturday at the church.

Mrs. Hodges was born on July 1, 1943 in Guilford County to the late Eldridge Sherron and Vassie Fulton Sherron. She worked several years for Nationwide Insurance and Guilford Mills and was a member of Oak Level Baptist Church since childhood. Opal was a beloved grandmother who cherished every moment with her grandchildren. She also shared a love for camping with her husband, creating countless memories together. Opal was a faithful friend to many, always offering a helping hand and a kind word.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Thomas Dale Hodges and daughter, Sharon Lee Hodges.

Survivors include her husband of sixty-five years, Clarence Douglas Hodges; sons, Mark Douglas Hodges and James Clarence Hodges (Rita); grandchildren, Jessica Anndelle Hubbard (Stephen), Hannah Marie Hodges and Mark Douglas Hodges, Jr.; great-grandchild, Brynlee Denim Hubbard; sisters, Margie Kirby and Peggy Southard (Tommy) and numerous special extended family members and friends.

In lieu of flowers, please consider memorial contributions to the Oak Level Baptist Church Cemetery Fund.
