Obituary: NATHANIEL CARR

Nathaniel Carr departed this life on Monday morning, September 26, 2022. 

He was a native of Pitt County, North Carolina and a resident of New York before returning to North Carolina in 1992.  Nathaniel was a graduate of Maxwell High School, Brooklyn, New York and pursued further education at Guilford Technical Community College and the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.  He was formerly employed by Mountaineer Farms, Siler City and attended White Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church under Pastor Cory A. Graves.  Nathaniel enjoyed writing poetry, cooking, listening to old school music (hip-hop and rhythm and blues) and spending time with family, especially his nieces and nephews. 

His father, Charles Carr, Sr. and a daughter, Naisha Carr, preceded him in death.  Survivors are: wife, Dedra Cook; children, Tenisha Hart, Tikyra Carr, Naquasia Carr, Jahmir Carr and Niya Collins; step-daughter, Desree Kea; step-son, Tyon Kea; grandchildren, Zion, Davi’Nique, Khi’ere, Zola and Khiri; beloved mother, Odessa Bowers Carr; sisters, Dester Kearse and Nanette Carr; brothers, Charles Carr and Lewis Carr (Ashellee); aunts, Mary Mitchell, Mary Carr and Rosalee Bowers; special friends, George Lesaine and Malcolm Bunch; other relatives and friends. 

Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Sunday, October 9, 2022 from the White Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church, 2600 Assembly Road with Pastor Cory A. Graves presiding.  The family visitation will be Sunday from 12 until 1 p.m. at the church.
