Obituary: NANCY SMITH FERGUSON

She left her life here on earth May 24th, 2024 to embrace her heavenly home she had eagerly awaited.

Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Wednesday May 29, 2024 at Fairview Baptist Church with Rev. Heath Lloyd officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will see friends 6:00 till 8:00 PM Tuesday May 28, 2024 at Fairview Baptist Church and at other times will be at the residence.

Nancy was the daughter of the late George Herman “Al” Smith and Ruby Cline Smith.

She graduated in the Class of 1955 from Reidsville Senior High School with a very special bond with all her classmate and looked forward to their time together.

She was married to the late William Thomas Ferguson (Willie) in 1955.

She worked for Sears Mail Order for 37 years until her retirement. She enjoyed her time with her work family especially their lunches together after retirement.

Nancy was a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mama and most proud of being Mema. She always put others needs before her own.

She loved the Lord and His Church. She was a faithful member of Fairview Baptist Church. She loved her Pastor and all of her Church Family. She served her Church, teaching youth as well as many other committees. She always said serving on the Scholarship committee was the greatest because it helped young people to further their education.

She is survived by three children Son William T. ‘Billy’ Ferguson Jr. and wife Lynne, Daughters Teresa Huffman and husband James, Amy Gammon and husband Johnny, Grandchildren, Christy Hall and husband Chris, Don Ferguson, Allen Hazelwood and wife Shannon, Brian Hazelwood and wife Emily, Shannon French and husband Kevin. Great grandchildren America, Liberty, Patriot, Sullie Hall, Luke, Drew, Kate Hazelwood, Bryson, Callie Hazelwood, Abigail, Conner French, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Along with her husband and parents, she was also preceded in death by her Sister: Peggy S. Alcorn, Brothers: Franklin R “Bud” Smith, George Herman “Sprout” Smith Jr., James E. Smith

We would like to extend a special Thank you to the staff of Penn Nursing Center for the love and compassionate care shown to our mama. Thank you to Cheryl Cardwell from Griswolds for being such a special caregiver to mama while at home.
