Obituary: MYRTLE JOYCE NELSON

Myrtle Joyce Nelson, 83, of Madison, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, January 21, 2023, at her home.

A 12:00 noon funeral service will be held on Tuesday, January 24, 2023, at Oak Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Randy Roberts officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service beginning at 11:00 a.m. at the church.

Myrtle was born in Stokes County on December 11, 1939, to the late Hunter and Stella Sands Joyce. She worked for MacField and UNIFI for over 30 years. She was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church where she was a former Sunday school teacher and choir member. She loved her children and grandchildren and going to church. She also enjoyed gardening with her flowers and watching the birds with their nest, eggs, and babies.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Jerry Lee Dalton; her brother, David Joyce; and her sisters, Roberta Stewart, Magdalene Martin, Mae Ellen Joyce, and Irene Shepard.

Those left to cherish her memory are her Husband, Charles Leroy Nelson, Sr, her children, Paul Goad, Charles Nelson, Jr. (Misty) and Debbie Woods ; nine grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren.
