Minnie Ruth “Nell” Lawson Bullins, 87, of Danbury, NC passed peacefully leaving her earthly body on Wednesday, July 2, 2025. Nell was a loving, spiritual soul who is now made whole and pain-free. She is reunited with all those she loved dearly who transitioned before her, and we will undoubtedly, one day see her again. Nell’s deep spirituality, which she shared freely with all, was broad-ranging and a significant part of the blessing she was in this world. She often offered this comforting reminder, especially during difficult times: “God is love. He is everywhere and in everything.”
Nell served faithfully as a nurse at both Stokes Reynolds Memorial Hospital and RJR Patrick County Memorial Hospital. Her passion for helping people to heal and to find their spiritual journey was always a part of her being. In her 25-year career, she nurtured countless infirmed, compassionately cared for those in transition, saved lives, and ushered new lives into the world.
Nell was born on January 30, 1938, to Oscar and Ruth Fagg Lawson. A child of the Great Depression, Nell was never a woman of excess with the exceptions of her obvious infinite love for others and her eclectic angel collection.
Preceding her in death are her parents, her husband of 40 years, Rudolph Valentino Bullins, her brothers Chester Lawson, John Henry Lawson and Ronald “Rayvon” Lawson, sister, Peggy Lawson Mabe and special aunt, Hettie Fagg.
Left to mourn her loss and celebrate a life well-lived are her sons, Marty Bullins (Tena) of Roanoke, VA, and Douglas Bullins (Tiffany) of Lawsonville, NC. Grandchildren include Kensley Bullins (Chris), Reagan Shugg (Connor), Kristen Switzer (Shane), Haley Stephenson (Evans), Cole Bullins (Ashley), Teagan Brawley (Landon), and Colby Wrenn. Great-grandchildren include Chloe and Piper Switzer, Caleigh Bullins, Maverick and Rhett Brawley, and special friend Mary Sue Lawson.
The family would like to express gratitude to the staff at Trellis Supportive Care for their patience and compassion these past few months, making her transition as peaceful as possible.
