Milton Odell Alley, 91, died on Tuesday, June 20, 2023 at Annie Penn Memorial Hospital.
A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. on Monday, June 26, 2023 at Kallam Grove Christian Church with Reverend Donald Haynes and Reverend Nathanael Putnam officiating. Inurnment will follow in the church cemetery with military honors. The family will receive friends following the service in the church fellowship hall and all other times at the home of Michael Alley.
Mr. Alley was born on January 26, 1932 in Rockingham County to the late Moyer Milton Alley and Mary Isabel Webster Alley. Milton served his country honorably in the United States Army and retired from Pine Hall Brick. He was a founding member of the Madison Rescue Squad and the Jacob’s Creek Volunteer Fire Department. Following retirement, Milton enjoyed babysitting his grandchildren, working part-time for Colonial Funeral Home and tending to his farm. In 2018, he was awarded the Order of the Long Leaf Pine as recognition of his dedicated service to his family and community. Milton adored his family and will always be remembered for his giving heart.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Milton “Mickey” O. Alley, Jr.; sister, Mary Frances Justice and brothers, Robert “Bobby” Franklin Alley and Edward Earl Alley.
Survivors include his wife of nearly seventy years, Martha Payne Alley; son, Michael Alley (Jennifer); grandchildren, Moses Alley, Jessica Alley Loredo (Bhrayan) and Jacob Alley; great-grandchildren, Wren and Emery Loredo; step-grandchildren, Sam Stephenson (Amber) and Will Stephenson; step-great-grandchild, Ryleigh Stephenson and special nieces, Carol Sue Knight and Debra Edlin and many extended family members and friends.
