Obituary: MILDREY FLOWRENE HANDY

Flowrene Mitchell Handy, born in Stokes County, on September 2, 1936, entered eternal rest Thursday, March 20, 2025, at Village Care, at the age of 88.

Flowrene was a graduate of North Stokes High School. She was a member of Oak Ridge Baptist Church and retired from Bassett Walker in Stuart. Flowrene loved her church family, and was a devoted mother, grandmother, and sister. She had a strong passion for flower gardening.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Carl Mitchell and Kate Hawkins Mitchell; brother, Ronnie Mitchell; sister, Leeo M. Kimmich; son-in-law, Ricky Mabe and grandson, Timothy Mabe.

Flowrene is survived by sons, Eugene Handy (Kristy), Frank Handy (Barbara) and Dale Handy; daughters, Mildrey Handy Mabe and Belinda Handy Clark (Roger); sister-in-law, Donna Moorefield Mitchell; 10 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

A visitation will be held from 1:30 p.m. to 2:45 p.m., Sunday, March 23, 2025, at Oak Ridge Baptist Church with funeral services following at 3 p.m. with Reverend Mike Sands officiating. Interment will be held at the Church Cemetery, Sandy Ridge.

Friends will be received all other times at the home of Frank and Barbara Handy.
