Obituary: MILDRED OAKLEY LEAKE

Mildred Oakley Leake, 99, passed away Friday, July 19th at her home in Stoneville. NC. with family and longtime caregiver.

A funeral service will be held Monday, July 22nd at 2:00pm in the Fair Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at Fair’s. Burial will follow the service at Mt. View Cemetery in Ridgeway, VA.

Mildred was born October 18,1924 to the late Thomas Cleveland and Edna Roberts Oakley. She grew up in a farming oriented family and continued that livelihood with her husband, of 73 years, Ralph Sanford Leake. Mildred was the heart of the family. She was an excellent homemaker and cook, always working hard on the farm alongside Ralph. She was always loving and definitely always loved.

Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Winfred Leake (Cheryl); daughter’s, Winona Price, Edna Kovitz (Michael); grandchildren, Laura Thomas, Kari Williamson (Jake), Melanie Price, Justin Price (Amanda); great-grandchildren, Brooks Thomas, Joel Price and Quinn Price; sister Aileen Draper; and numerous extended family

Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Ralph Sanford Leake, infant son, Douglas Oren Leake; brothers Elmo Oakley, Henry Oakley; sisters, Mary Rhodes, Mabel Rhodes, Esther Durham, Ruby Nelson, infant sister, Louise Oakley; son-in-law, Larry Price; grandson-in-law, Matthew Thomas.

We would like to express our deepest gratitude to caregiver, Patricia Wilson, for her 9 years of devotion and loving care for our precious mother. Also, a special thank you to Ancora Compassionate Care and ADTS.
