Obituary: MILDRED HAZELWOOD GANN

Mildred Louise Hazelwood Gann, 73, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, May 19, 2023.

The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, May 24, 2023 at True Gospel Baptist Church. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Tuesday at Colonial Funeral Home in Madison and all other times at her residence.

Mildred was born in Leaksville, NC to the late Roy Hazelwood and Sally Wray Hazelwood. She graduated from Stoneville High School in 1967 and later obtained her cosmetology degree. Mildred was well known and took on several roles in the community. She was a devout Christian and long-standing member of True Gospel Baptist Church where she was a Sunday School teacher and choir member.

She is survived by her loving children, Kimberly Burkhart (David) and Kevin Gann. Mildred was affectionately known as Gmoney to her grandchildren and their friends. Gmoney’s grandchildren include Haley Gann, Marlee Malpass (Noah), Kelsei Gann, Georgia Meeks, Olivia Gann and Kegan Burkhart (Ciara Morrow). She is also survived by her grand-furbabies, Asher, Zoey, Zelda, and Molly; sisters, Ann Hall and Vera Mae Hazelwood; brother, Kenneth Hazelwood as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Larry Hazelwood; sister, Nancy McAlister and special nephew, Troy Hall.
