Mickey D. Moore, of Mayodan, passed away on 4th of July, 2022. She was living in Greensboro, close to family.

A memorial service will be held at 2 PM on Saturday, July 9th, at Colonial Funeral Home & Chapel, 127 Ellisboro Road, Madison, NC. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, 1 – 2 PM, in the chapel.

Mickey was born to Ed and Hattie Pike, one of 10 children, and lived most of her life in Mayodan, NC, where she was known and loved. She worked at many jobs in her career and never met a stranger. Mickey was a bigger than life personality with love and laughter for everyone. For those that knew her she never hesitated to say what she thought. She dedicated her adult life to working with Local, District, and Department for Veterans of all Wars. In 1988 she served as publicity chairman for Mayodan VFW Post 7033. Mickey became President of the Auxiliary in 1988 followed by serving as state publicity chairman for the NC annual VFW Auxiliary Convention in 1989. While serving in Mayodan, her work on publicity received the NC State Award for Excellence. She continued working for VFW Auxillary Post 8297 Midway-Monroeton until the last few years. Mickey enjoyed traveling and met a bucket list wish by visiting Hawaii and the memorials to Pearl Harbor, where her brother John served during WWII. She was dedicated to helping the less fortunate and children. She was a friend and confidant to many up until her last day.

Mickey was preceded in death by her son, Marty Donovant Martin and her dearest friend, Charles G. Frye.

She is survived by her daughters, Kimberly Dawkins Berry (Tom) and Elizabeth Dawkins; grandchildren, Meredith L. Ragsdale, William J. Berry (Elana), Dylan Thomas Berry and great granddaughter, Piper Josephine.
