Michael Dean Simmons, 64, passed away on March 31, 2025 at North Pointe Assisted Living.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 3, 2025 at Mayodan Municipal Cemetery.
Michael was born on August 6, 1960 to the late Lloyd and Annie Simmons. Michael was deeply involved in his community, dedicating his time and efforts to various organizations. He was a devoted member of the Mayodan Methodist Church, where he found solace and fellowship. His commitment to the youth was evident through his 50 year service with the Boy Scouts of America, particularly with the Mayodan Scout Troop 562, where he played a significant role in mentoring and guiding young scouts. Additionally, Michael was an active participant in the Mayodan Lions Club, contributing to numerous community service projects. His legacy of service, dedication, and kindness will be fondly remembered by all who knew him.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers, Kenny and Tommy; sister, Phyllis.
He is survived by Ricky and Cathy Martin, Loretta Smith; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Mayodan Boy Scout Troop 562 and/or Mayodan Methodist Church.
Colonial Funeral Home in Madison is serving the family.
