Mr. Melvin Clark Whitt, age 87, departed this life on Sunday, October 6, 2024 at the Gibson House Ancora Compassionate Care.

Public viewing will begin on Thursday, October 10, 2024 from 12 until 8 p.m. at McLaurin-Harris Funeral Home, 721 East Morehead Street, Reidsville, NC.

Funeral services will be held Friday, October 11, 2024 at 1:30 p.m. at Benaja Mt. Zion Holiness Church of God, Inc., 600 McWalker Road, Reidsville, NC. The family visitation will begin at 1 p.m. with Pastor, Dr. Melvin McLean, Jr., eulogist.

The committal and interment will follow in the church cemetery.

As a native and lifelong resident of Rockingham County, NC, he was born on January, 26, 1937.

He attended the Browns Summit Public Schools and was a former employee of Cone Mills for 42 years until retirement. He was a member of Benaja Mt. Zion Holiness Church of God, Inc., where he faithfully attended until his health declined.

During his leisure time, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, and spending time with family and friends.

His parents, Walter Leroy Whitt, Sr., and Zelia Neal Whitt; 4 maternal children; siblings, Roberta Whitt-Miller, Selma Whitt-Kimber all preceded him in death.

Survivors are his loving wife of 62 years, Joyce Parker Whitt; children raised in the home, Mona Blackwell (Clayton), Cassandra Mitchell and Avery Miller (Penny); brother, Walter Leroy Whitt, Jr., (Margaret); sister, Emma Whitt Herbin; brother-in-law, Ralph Slade (Clara); special friend, Mary Harrison; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
