Obituary: MAURICE KENNETH JOHNSON, SR

Mr. Maurice Kenneth Johnson, Sr., age 73, passed away Monday, September 9, 2024 at his residence.
Public viewing will begin at Saturday, September 14, 2024 from 12 until 8 p.m. at McLaurin-Harris Funeral Home, 721 East Morehead Street, Reidsville, NC.
The committal and interment will follow in Greenview Cemetery with military honors.
At the request of the family, there will be no visiting hours at the home.
Mr. Johnson was born in Orange County, NC on November 11, 1950 to Walter Johnson and Sophia Petty McCain.
At an early age he was drafted in the military where he served his country faithfully, and was honorably discharged from the United States Army.
For many years he worked American Tobacco Company in Reidsville, NC and later retired from Brown & Williamson Tobacco Corporation in Macon, GA.
In his spare-time he enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Survivors include spouse, Diana Mills Johnson; sons, Maurice K. Johnson, Jr. (Hilary); daughter, Tonya Gibbs; brothers, Earl Johnson and Mark Johnson, Sr.; sisters, Rose Slade (William), Pam Washington and Clarise Kahn; grandchildren, Tony Gibbs, Tianna Gibbs, Tevon’ Gibbs, Trinitee Gibbs, Damon Johnson, Taneya Gibbs, Addison Johnson and Arianna Johnson; a host of relatives and friends.
