Ms. Mary Sue Galloway Blackwell departed this life on Saturday morning, August 27, 2022.
As a native and lifelong resident of Rockingham County, North Carolina, she attended the local public schools and was a graduate of Madison High School, Class of 1956. Ms. Blackwell was a retiree of the Unifi Corporation and a faithful member of Wentworth Baptist Church, serving with the Senior Choir. During her leisure, she enjoyed planting flowers, traveling, spoiling her grandchildren, watching westerns and wrestling on television.
Her parents, Lucille Carter Galloway and Gaston Galloway, Sr.; siblings, Geneva Dillard and Bert Lee Galloway, preceded her in death. Survivors are: loving children, Mary Rone, Nathan Blackwell, Nokmer Clegg and Laverne Blackwell; 9 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; brother, Gaston Galloway, Jr. (Gerline); sister-in-law, Virginia Galloway; other relatives and friends.
Graveside services will be conducted Noon Saturday, September 3, 2022 from the Wentworth Baptist Church Cemetery, 773 Highway 65 with Rev. Lester Boyd presiding. Public viewing will be Friday afternoon at Johnson & Sons.
