Mary Rozella (Rosa) Rhodes Gann, 99, died on Tuesday, September 6, 2022.
The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, September 9, 2022 at Beaver Island Baptist Church. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends beginning at 1 p.m. on Friday at the church and all other times at the home of her son, Ronnie Gann.
Rosa was born on February 21, 1923 in Lawsonville, North Carolina to the late Will Matt and Carrie Knight Rhodes. Rosa worked in the textile industry and was a seamstress for many years. She was devoted to her family, her church and her friends. She enjoyed camping with Cecil and their time together through the years.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband and soulmate, Reverend Cecil B. Gann, of sixty-three years and her twelve siblings.
She is survived by her sons, Wendell Gann (Mary) and Ronnie Gann (Patricia); daughters, Shelby Handy (Larry) and Carol Duggins (Taylor); grandsons, Douglas Handy, Dennis Handy (Susie), Darren Duggins (Patty), Chad Duggins (Stella), and Keenan Simpson; granddaughters, Wendy Tucker (Jeff), Karen Mabe (Shane) and Fallon Gann; twelve great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.
