Obituary: MARY MANUEL YATES

Mary Elizabeth Manuel Yates, 83, died on Tuesday, April 25, 2023 at Moses Cone Hospital.
The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 29, 2023 in the Colonial Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Stuart Jones officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Hermon United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends beginning at 1 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Yates was born on December 29, 1939 in Rockingham County to the late Paul Jefferson Manuel and Margaret Louise Cobbler Manuel. She retired from Tultex and was a longtime member of Mt. Hermon United Methodist Church where she was a member of the Ladies Adult Bible Class. Mary enjoyed her daily visits and phone calls from her beloved family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Marshall Yates.
Survivors include her sons, Wayne Yates (Tammy), Doug Yates (Melissa) and Kenneth Yates (Debby); daughter, Ann Ball (Chris); grandchildren, Heather Owens, Darrell Yates, Levi Yates, Kayla Alverado, Faith Barajas, D.J. Tucker, Michael Tucker and Shanna Bowman; great-grandchildren, Lucas, Carrie, Alexander, Adrian, Hayden and Beau Marshall; brother, William Manuel (Faye); aunt, Nadine Webster and special friend, Miriam Fulcher.
