Obituary: MARY JONES DOSS

Mary Jones Vinson Doss, 89, of Reidsville, NC formerly of Lynchburg, VA went to be with the Lord Monday August 12, 2024 at Heartland Living and Rehabilitation Center in Greensboro.

A private graveside service will be conducted at a later date. There will be no formal visitation.

A native of Lynchburg, VA, she was a daughter of the late Robert Scott and Laura Carter Jones and had lived most of her life in and around Lynchburg before moving to Reidsville in 1998 to be near her daughter and her family. She was a home maker, and a former member of Thomas Road Baptist Church before joining Speedwell Presbyterian Church after moving to Reidsville. She loved her cats and had many as pets throughout the years. Mary was preceded in death by both her husbands: James Raymond Vinson, Jr. and James Russell Doss, Sr., her brother: Linwood Ray Jones and her sister: Eva Jones Neu.

Survivors include her daughter: Brenda Vinson Citty (Rusty) of Reidsville, grandson: Jonathan C. Citty (Emily) of Raleigh, and her granddaughter: Meredith Citty Barger (Nathan) of Graham, great grandsons: Garrette C. Citty and Marshall L. Barger.

The family would like to thank the staff and management of Brookdale at Reidsville where she was for ten years, the staff and management of Heartland Living and Rehabilitation where she was for four years and the nurses of AuthoraCare Collective who visited her for the past four months for their care and support throughout Mrs. Doss’s journey.
