Mary Elizabeth McDaniel Pruitt, 100, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, December 9, 2024, at Cypress Valley Center Nursing and Rehabilitation.
Mary was born on May 26, 1924, to the late Pastor William H. McDaniel and Emma A. Crowder McDaniel. On January 31, 1942, she married the love of her life, Matthew “Buster” Pruitt. Together, they shared 79 wonderful years of marriage and raised three sons, building a life full of love and faith.
She was one of the greatest mothers you could ever know—a truly good Christian woman who lived her faith every single day. Mary was deeply rooted in her beliefs and devoted her life to her family and her role as a homemaker. She loved the Lord and her church, and she especially cherished singing, with gospel music holding a special place in her heart. Mary’s easygoing nature and her remarkable ability to never complain made her a source of peace and comfort to everyone around her. She leaves behind a legacy of faith, love, and kindness that will continue to inspire all who knew her.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mary was preceded in death by her brothers, Edward McDaniel, Arthur Lee McDaniel, and William “Bill” McDaniel, as well as her sisters, Ruby Keatts and Eva McDaniel. She is survived by her sons, Robert Pruitt (Mary), Wayne Pruitt (Sandra), and Bruce Pruitt (Sherrie); her grandchildren, Ginger Southard (Randy) and Kristin Pruitt; her great-grandchildren, Paige Isley (James) and Annie Anderson (James); and her great-great-grandchildren, Lili and Weston Isley. She is also survived by her brother, Raleigh McDaniel, and her sisters, Nannie Hammock, Mildred Graham, and Jane McDaniel.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Ancora Compassionate Care or Piedmont Baptist Church.
