Obituary: MARY ELIZABETH BURROUGHS

Mary Elizabeth Slaughter Burroughs, 89, of Stoneville, passed away on Saturday, June 22, 2024 at Ancora Compassionate Care in Wentworth.

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday June 26th 2024 at 11 a.m. at Ridgeview Memorial Gardens. A visitation will be held one hour prior at Fair Funeral Home from 10 till 10:45 before processing to the cemetery.

Mary was born March 4, 1935 to the late Lloyd Slaughter and Callie Benton. She was married to the love of her life the late Samuel “Gene” Burroughs for 70 years. She was a homemaker and loved to quilt and spending time at her church, First Church of the Brethren. But most of all her family was her life.

Surviving are two sons; Samuel E. Burroughs, Jr. and wife Adrienne of Stoneville and Belvin T. Burroughs and wife Janie of Eden; two daughters, Lisa B. Trant and her husband Steve of Stoneville and Judy Burroughs of Stoneville; and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Mary was preceded in death by her daughters Kay Frances Burroughs Wray, and Margaret McAnnally, brothers Belvin Slaughter, and Sam Slaughter, sisters Naomi Delancy, and Carol Slaughter.
