Mary J. Collins, 74, of Madison, NC, surrounded by her children and grandchildren, peacefully passed into the arms of our Lord and Savior on Tuesday, February 4, 2025, at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home, Winston-Salem, NC.
A devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and most recently, a great-grandmother, Mary enjoyed spending time with her family, cooking, traveling, listening to music, dancing, fishing, and watching Hallmark Channel movies. She adored each of her six grandchildren and often led them through fun antics and events, leaving each child with precious, lasting memories of their “Nana.” Mary was a fierce warrior and would face the strongest and toughest giants to defend her beliefs and the family she so dearly loved. Mary was of Baptist faith and a member of Gospel Light Baptist Church, Winston-Salem, NC.
Mary was preceded in death by her mother, Frances Haynes Ross, and father, Lewis Alford Jenkins; her brothers, Lewis Jenkins, Larry Jenkins, Gary Jenkins, Timmy Jenkins, and Terry Jenkins; and her sister, Nelta Marshall.
She is survived by her three daughters: Sherry Walker of Reidsville, NC; Amy Bolen of Madison, NC; and Christy Johnson (Brandon) of Stoneville, NC. Sister, Rita Lampkin (Carl) of Williamsburg, VA. She has six grandchildren who were the light of her life: Ryan Cox, Cassidy Walker, Austin Bredeweg, Abbigail Johnson, Ashton Gray Johnson, and Ethan Bolen, as well as one great-grandchild, Jaxson Gray Bulifant. She is also survived by two sisters-in-law, Brenda Jenkins Combs and Emma Jenkins, both of Mt. Airy, NC.
The family would like to thank her caregiver, Angela Broadnax, the Barry Joyce Cancer Center for their many years of support and inclusion, and Trellis Supportive Care, Winston-Salem, NC, for their compassionate and loving care. Mary loved flowers; however, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Barry Joyce Cancer Center in Madison, NC.
Colonial Funeral Home in Madison is serving the family.
