Obituary: MARY CLAYDELL VERNON COLLINS

Mary Claydell Vernon Collins, 83, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, August 20, 2022.
The funeral service will be conducted at 3 p.m. on Thursday, August 25, 2022 in the Colonial Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in the Ellisboro Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Wednesday at Colonial Funeral Home and all other times at the residence.
Mrs. Collins was born on November 23, 1938 in Rockingham County to the late Robert Henry Vernon and Leone Serene Joyce Vernon. She was a member of Ellisboro Baptist Church and loved her Lord and family. Claydell enjoyed mowing her beautiful yard and working in her flower and vegetable gardens. She was an amazing woman, wife and mother.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Rosie Mabe and brother, Lemuel Vernon.
Survivors include her beloved husband of sixty-five years, Boyd “Bobby” R. Collins, Sr.; daughters, Crystal Williams (Randy) and Mary Ruth Collins; son, Boyd R. Collins, Jr.; grandchildren, Misty Atkins (Chris), Jaime Hopper (Brent) and Christan Miller (Al); great-grandchildren, Jacob Knight (Miriam), Autumn Knight, Emily Hopper, Taylor Hopper, Liam Miller, Lucy Miller and Hannah Sutherland; brother, Javan Vernon and sisters, Carol Hay (Richard) and Christine Manuel (James).
The Collins family would like to thank the amazing team at AuthoraCare Hospice for their special care.
