Mrs. Mary Catherine Holloway Russell departed this life on Sunday morning, January 21, 2024.
She was a native of Rockingham County, North Carolina and a resident of Guilford County where she resided with her husband for many years. After his passing in 2019, she relocated to Orlando, Florida to live with her daughter. Attending the local public schools of Reidsville, she was a graduate of Booker T. Washington High School, Class of 1954 and was a retiree of Dow Corning Corporation. Being nurtured by the influences of a Christian family resulted in the becoming a resolute member of Elm Grove Baptist Church where she actively served in many capacities. During her leisure, she enjoyed reading, shopping and spending time with her grandchildren.
Her parents, Dorothy Martin Holloway and Ernest Holloway, Sr.; beloved husband of 60 years, Deacon Josiah Russell; brother, Johnny Holloway, preceded her in death.
We thank God for her Christian life of love, service and devotion. Her faith in God was compelling, her belief in the worthy of others was commanding and her compassion for all humanity was complete. To God Be The Glory For Doing All Things, Abundantly Well!
Survivors are: a devoted and loving daughter, Robyn R. Johnson (Tony); grandchildren, Brittanie Staton and Christian Johnson; great-grandson, Amari Johnson; brothers, Ernest Holloway, Jr., Melford Holloway (Robin) and Michael Holloway (Penny); sisters-in-law, Willie Mae Hurdle and Bertha Russell; other relatives and friends.
