Mary Lee Carter, 86, born December 17, 1938, in Georgetown County, South Carolina, entered eternal rest, at Lower Cape Fear Life Care Hospice, Wilmington, N.C. on Monday, January 27, 2025.
She was a member of Delta Methodist Church. Mary was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and sister. She was a retired nursing assistant who loved taking care of people; she also worked in tobacco with her husband and sons. Her passion was gardening, nurturing beautiful flowers.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Homer Ernest Lee, Sr., and Juanita Smith Lee; husband, Bobby Gene Carter; son, David Lee Carter; and 5 siblings.
Survivors include three sons, Michael Kelley Carter and wife Teresa, Markcus Jeffrey Carter and wife Carolyn, both of Sandy Ridge, and Kenneth Nolan Carter and wife Mandy, of Oak Island, N.C.; grandchildren, Nicholas Justin Carter, Matthew Tyler Carter, Jenna Carter Sorrell, Cody Christopher Deer, Landon Nolan Carter, Tonya Renee Barbour, David Allen Cole, Jr., Jonathan Michael Lawless, Christopher Aaron Carter, Benjamin Adam Carter, Tim Helms, Mark Helms; multiple great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Mary is also survived by two brothers, Edwin Lee, of Wichita, Kansas, and Daniel Lee, of Salem, Oregon; and a sister, Elaine Dancy, of Sandy Ridge; as well as a special friend, Paul Clifton
Special appreciation is extended to her caregivers at The Bluefields, Leland, N.C. and Lower Cape Fear Life Care Hospice, Wilmington, N.C.
