Obituary: MARY BESS CUMMINGS

Mary Bess Cummings, 67, of Reidsville, NC went suddenly to be with the Lord Thursday, July 14, 2022.

Mary was a lifetime native of Rockingham County where she lived on the family farm most of her life. She was the daughter of the late John Grove Cummings, Sr. and Mildred Gray Cummings. Mary completed her education at Bethany High School in 1973 and for a brief period worked at the Opportunity Center. She enjoyed many differing arts and crafts and was always gifting family and friends with her creations. For decades she collected postcards from every corner of the world. A true fan, she loved watching many sports but especially loved everything Carolina! Mary had an incredible memory, and always reminded her family of the next birthday or anniversary which needed attending. Mary was a devoted member of St. Thomas Episcopal Church.

Survivors include her siblings: John Grove Cummings, Jr. (Juanita deceased) of Reidsville, William Penn Cummings (Kyong Suk) of Mason City, Iowa, and Gladys “G.G.” Cummings Stephenson (Tom) of Reidsville. She enjoyed ten nieces and nephews, and many great nieces and nephews.

Mary was a resident of Pine Forest Assisted Living for the last few years where she made many friends

The family will receive friends on Monday, July 18^th from 6:00 – 7:30 pm at Wilkerson Funeral Home. Graveside services will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, July 19^th in Evergreen Memory Gardens, Bishop William Gregg officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Thomas Episcopal Church, P.O. Box 72 Reidsville, NC 27320.
