Mary Ann Haskins Willis, 90, of Mayodan, passed away on Wednesday, January 25, 2023, at Annie Penn Hospital.
An 11:00 a.m. memorial service will be held on Monday, January 30, 2023, at First Baptist Church of Mayodan with Rev. Torrey Easler officiating. Inurnment will follow at Pine Hall Methodist Church Cemetery.
Mary was born in Rockingham County on June 23, 1932, to the late Jessie Frank and Mary Amos Haskins. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Mayodan and was active for the last 28 years and prior to that was at Pine Hall United Methodist Church. She was a choir member at both churches, worked in the nursery, and later taught the senior adult Sunday school class. She often delivered recorded church services to shut ins that couldn’t make it to the service. Her faith was the foundation of her life. Mary was also a volunteer for the Rockingham County Meals on Wheels program for 10 years. Her family was the center of her heart and life. She rejoiced in every birth, marriage, and graduation and was lovingly anticipating the birth of her newest great grandchild.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis Gabe Willis, Sr.; her granddaughter, Christina Lynnette Willis; her brother, J.F. Haskins; and her sisters, Roberta Shockley, Dona Boyd, and Marcelene Duncan.
Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Lewis “Butch” Willis, Jr. (Susan) of Walnut Cove, Kimberly Ann Willis Bullins of Eden, Jeffrey Allen Willis (Sharon) of Germanton, and Lynnette Willis Weston (Bryan) of Madison; seven grandchildren, Donna Thompson, Natasha Handy, Shelly Willis, Cory Willis, Danielle Cox, Dylan Weston, and Luke Weston; nine great grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.
