Marty Willard, 62, passed away Friday, November 4, 2022, at his home after many months of declining health.
A funeral service will be held at 2 PM on Saturday, November 12th, at First Christian Church in Kernersville. Entombment will follow at Eastlawn Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service (1 – 2 PM) at the church.
Marty was born March 15, 1960 in Moore County, NC. For many years he and his wife operated a car lot together, Ryan’s Auto Sales, before he semi-retired. He met many people through his business and, very much, enjoyed that aspect of meeting the public as it seemed he never met a stranger. In his spare time he enjoyed fishing, hunting, attending auto auctions as well as antique auctions. Marty was known as the life of the party among his family and friends, always up for laughs and good times but at the center of it all, he had a heart of gold. He loved people deeply especially his family.
He is survived by his wife, Lena Kay Sink Willard of the home; son, Ryan Willard of the home; daughter, Lindsey Cierra Gillett of Rome, NY; three grandchildren, Chelsea Gillett, Brandon Gillett and Amby Gillett; his mother, Betty Ring Womble of Vass; step-mother, Mary Willard of Kernersville; two brothers, David Willard (Shelley) of Kernersville and Mitchell Carlton Willard of Vass and sister, Jody Williams (Jeff) of Bear Creek.
Marty was preceded in death by his father, Virgil Carlton Willard and sister, Joy Willard Smith.
Colonial Funeral Home in Madison is serving the family.
