The servant of God, Mark Steven Bodin, reposed in the Lord on Wednesday, July 24, 2024, at Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburg, PA, surrounded by his loving family.

Mark was born March 5, 1961, the only son to Donald H. Bodin and Jean L. Bodin (née Fisk), in Winter Park, Florida.

Mark’s pride and joy was his five children Jessica (Eric), Andrew, Peter (Jessie), David, and Jonathan (Theodora) and his seven grandchildren Mikayla, Mira, Asher, Benjamin, Noah, Jonah, and Levi. He was the uncle to Joel, Kurt, and Luke; the children of his sister, Melody (Andrew) Chaffer.

Mark’s life is a storied one. The majority of his adolescent years was spent as the son of missionary parents, Donald and Jean Bodin, in Venezuela of New Tribes Mission. Through that experience, he developed a long-lasting love for airplanes and aspired to continue missionary work as a bush pilot. God’s plan led him in a different direction, however, when he met and fell in love with his future spouse and servant of God, Carol Ann Bodin (née Paton).

Mark and the family would eventually settle in North Sewickley, Pennsylvania. He worked at the Pittsburgh International Airport for a brief period of time and then as a sales representative for a speaker manufacturer. As his friends and family would attest, Mark had a strong passion for music and devoted much of his time honing his craft as a sound engineer, “mixing” sound for church events, concerts, and school plays. He had the privilege of mixing for numerous bands while on tour. His talents as a sound engineer garnered much appreciation from the many venues he served at. He had co-founded a small company called “Our Master’s Voice” with three friends who remained in close touch until the end of his days.

Additionally, he was an active partner of another speaker company which developed a state-of-the-art sound system,“RGS”, which he loved demoing to willing listeners.

Later in life, Mark’s passion was his children and grandchildren. For those that knew him well, he would always talk about his family to anyone and everyone who would listen. He was outgoing, witty, and always in good spirits when surrounded by friends and acquaintances. While residing at an assisted care living home, he would spend many hours of the day scrolling through social media and posting stories about his family. He followed the news and loved talking about current events with his family. Most importantly, he was a follower of Christ and did not spare any opportunity to speak about his love for the Savior of our fallen world.

Preceding him in death was his beloved mother, Jean L. Bodin, and is survived by his father, Donald H. Bodin, and his sister, Melody.

The family will be holding a private service at The Greek Orthodox Christian Monastery of Panagia Pammakaristos in Lawsonville, North Carolina where he will be laid to rest.

The family requests in lieu of flowers that contributions be sent to “Honor Mark’s Legacy” via GoFundMe. https://webmail.centurylink.net/app/Utilities/gateway_url.asp?umsgid=%7Bdd8ad686-03eb-45e6-9df8-a434db868d77%7D&uurl=https%3A//gofund.me/afc8a4edhttps://gofund.me/afc8a4ed, or directly to Colonial Funeral Home Stokes Chapel, 1020 Hope Beasley Rd, Sandy Ridge, N.C. 27046
