Obituary: MARK SHANNON HUNSUCKER

Mark Shannon Hunsucker, 51, of Stoneville passed away on Sunday, May 19, 2024, at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Hospital.

A service of remembrance will be held at 2 pm on Monday, June 3, 2024, at Gospel Baptist Church, 5945 N. Church Street, Greensboro, NC 27455. The family will receive friends from 1 pm until 2 pm before the service at the church.

Shannon was born in Greensboro on September 16, 1972, a son of George O’Carr Hunsucker and Judy Sillmon Hunsucker. He worked as a lineman with Pike Co. and later with Davis H. Elliott Company of Roanoke, VA. He graduated from NW Guilford High School in 1991. He was an avid deer hunter and fisherman, a member of the Stokesdale Masonic Lodge #428 and with the Shriners. He was a grill master and bread baker. Sitting outside and watching the birds and his squirrel “Cornelia” play was his favorite pastime. He also loved the beach, especially Davis Island, NC.

He is survived by his wife, Shannon Fanning Hunsucker of the home; his children, Madison Hunsucker of Madison, Jack Hunsucker of Greensboro, and Gavin Nix of the home; his parents, George and Judy Hunsucker of Stokesdale; his sister, Kelli Sugg and husband Todd; his niece, Katie Sugg; his nephew, Ty Sugg; his numerous loved aunts and uncles and his fur babies, Shyloh, Waylon, Jessie and Merle.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the ALS Foundation, NC Chapter.
