Marilyn Jane Lannan Hopper, 96, entered into Heaven on Thursday, May 26, 2022 at her home.
A celebration of her life will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, May 29, 2022 in the Colonial Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the funeral home and on Friday and Saturday from 1 p.m. until 6 p.m. at 256 AL Road, Madison.
Mrs. Hopper was born on March 27, 1926 in Davenport, Iowa to the late James Patrick Lannan and Alvina Katrina Schroeder Lannan. She retired from Sears and Roebuck and attended Praise Assembly. Mrs. Hopper lived a full life of loving her Lord and her family. She was resourceful and independent; in addition she was a loving, caring and devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was full of joy when playing cards and always enjoyed a good belly laugh. For many years, she looked forward to her Thursday outings with Peggy Hopper and Jean Tucker.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Robert Lannan.
Survivors include her sons, James “Jimmy” Hopper (Linda) and David Hopper; daughters, Sharon Hopper (Mike Gonet), Cathy Bell (Frank) and Ginger Horn (Bill); grandchildren, Jeff Hopper (Lisa), Barry Hopper (Ginger B.), Delia Knight (Trip), Chanda Moore (Jason), James Bell, Jennifer Cayetano and Mahaley Jarvis (M.J.); great-grandchildren, Jordan (Alicia), Ashton, Jaydon, Savannah, Seth, Hannah, Ayvril, Lee, Isabelle, John and Ivan; special niece, Barbara Lannan and special nephew, Steve Lannan.
Given the wonderful care provided by Hospice of Rockingham County, the family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be sent to them at PO Box 281, Wentworth, NC 27375.
