Mrs. Margaret Cornelia Thornton Whitt, age 91, passed away Monday, October 21, 2024 at Moses Cone Hospital in Greensboro, NC.
Public viewing will begin on Saturday, October 26, 2024 from 12 until 8 p.m. at McLaurin-Harris Funeral Home, 721 East Morehead Street, Reidsville, NC
The committal and interment will follow in the Benaja Church Cemetery.
Mrs. Margaret was born in Rockingham County, NC on February 7, 1933 to the late Jim Thornton and the late Carrie Bell Adams Thornton Williams Pass.
She was a member of Benaja Mt. Zion Holiness Church of God, Inc.
She was employed with Cone Mills for over 20 years.
Survivors include her husband, Walter Sylvester Whitt; children, Mary Elizabeth Stokes, Carolyn Bolden, Gary Sylvester Whitt, Sharon Whitt Rucker, Sylvia Lynette Whitt (Maurice), Melvin Keith Whitt and Toni Whitt Thomas (Barry); 15 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great granchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Sandra Denise Aiken; son, David Lamont Whitt; granchildren, Ashanti Nikol Davis, Ma’Hagnie Renee’ Lea and LaGrier EllaBella Lea.
