Mae Kallam Miller left this earthly home the morning of September 3, 2022, at the age of 91.

A 2:00 p.m. graveside service will be held on Tuesday, September 6, 2022, at Glenn’s Chapel Church Cemetery with Pastor Mike Sands officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:30 pm until 1:30 pm on Tuesday at Ray Funeral Home prior to the graveside service.

She was born and raised in Rockingham County, the only daughter of the late Elkannar Vernon and Buford Ray Kallam. She grew up on a tobacco farm and her first public job was at Dupont. She worked at Cone Mills and retired from Tultex Mills. Mae loved to work outside in tobacco and the garden. She liked bus trips and riding the roads with the love of her life, Frank. Mae and Frank married in 1954 in Florence, SC, the day after Hurricane Hazel hit the NC and SC coast. Her grandchildren were the joy of her life.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Miller; and her brothers, Jackie Ray “Blues” Kallam and Lemuel Moyer Kallam.

Mae is survived by her daughters, Pamela Miller Lawson (Jesse) of Madison, Charlotte Miller Martin (Tony) of Mayodan, and Cindy Miller Ferguson (David) of Sandy Ridge; her brother, Maynard Buford Kallam of Mayodan; her grandchildren, Joshua Lawson, Cameron Martin, and Daniel Ferguson(Erika); and two great grandchildren, Macon Boles and Lyndan Ferguson.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Glenn’s Chapel Church Cemetery Fund, 752 Glenns Chapel Road, Stoneville, NC 27048.

Ray Funeral Home is honored to serve the family of Mae Miller and all are invited to share memories and offer condolences at www.rayfuneralhome.com.
