Mae Belle Mabe Thornton, 83, passed away Friday evening, June 3, 2022, at her home.
A funeral service will be held at 2 PM on Tuesday, June 7th, at Ellisboro Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service (1 – 2 PM) at the church.
Mae was born June 16, 1938 in Stokes County, NC. She was the daughter of the late Herbert and Vera Mabe. She was a member of Ellisboro Baptist Church in Madison and was a retiree of Unifi, Inc. – Madison.
She is survived by her son, Ricky Wayne Craddock (Tina), granddaughter, Sarah Dupont (Joel), grandson, Jesse Craddock (Alexzania), great-granddaughter, Everleigh, granddaughter, Rebecca Craddock; grandson, Chris Mabe (Crystal), great-grandson, Jordan, granddaughter, Shae Medzveliya (Andrey), great-granddaughters, Dalis and Karcyn and great-grandson, Alex; step-daughter, Brenda Calhoun French (Heather), step-granddaughter, Andrea Womack (William), great-step-granddaughter, Libby Womack, great-step-grandson, Huck Womack and step-granddaughter, Austin French; step-daughter, Glenda Gonzales, step-granddaughter, Crystal Angel (Bill), step-great-grandson, Ashton Parker; her sister, Hallie Craddock
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Thornton; her daughter, Teresa Gail Mabe; and three brothers, Norman Mabe, McKinley Mabe and Herbert Mabe.
The family would like to offer a special thanks to Becky Joyce who was Mae’s best friend and wonderful family friend, and also a special thanks to Mayzelle Potts, Montrea Potts, Chainasia Webb and Latoya Shoffner, who have cared for Mae and have been amazing caregivers.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to Ellisboro Baptist Church, c/o Building Fund, 1604 Ellisboro Road, Madison, NC 27025.
