Madison Paul Carter, born June 10, 1992, passed from this earthly life on Thursday, April 24, 2025, far too soon at the age of 32. Known to his loved ones simply as Matt, he was a beloved husband, father, son, brother, uncle, and friend whose joy and light touched everyone who knew him.

Matt never met a stranger—his magnetic personality, quick wit, and infectious laugh made him the life of every room he entered. He brought people together with ease, whether it was a family gathering, a church service, or a spontaneous moment that turned into a memory. His heart was as big as his smile, and his love for people ran deep—especially for his friends and family, whom he cherished beyond measure.

A devoted member and praise and worship leader of the Wentworth Church of God, Matt could often be found playing guitar and worshiping with his loved ones on Sundays. His faith was a guiding light in his life, and he lived with a generous spirit and open heart. He was also proud of his work as a working foreman at Carolina Power, where he led with strength, humility, and a deep sense of responsibility.

Above all else, Matt adored his family. His wife, Kailey Joyce Carter, and their beautiful children, Collin and Atley, were the center of his world. Being a father was his greatest joy, and he poured his heart into creating a life full of love, laughter, and unforgettable moments for them.

Matt was preceded in death by his uncle, John Carter, and his angel baby whom he never got to meet but loved dearly. He leaves behind a legacy in the hearts of his wife Kailey, son Collin, daughter Atley, his father Pastor Charlie Carter (Dare), mother Lisa McCollum Evans, paternal grandparents Charles and Geraldine Carter, maternal grandparents Ron McCollum (Theresa) and Shelby Roach (Jamie), brothers Joseph Carter (Christina) and Christopher Carter, his cherished nieces and nephews: Kaylee, Annabelle, Paisley, and Cayden Carter, mother and father-in-law Tony and Barbara Joyce, sister-in-law Logan Joyce, and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Matt had a very special cousin who he considered a brother, Hunter Carter, and special nephew Gunner Carter.

The family will receive friends at the home of Tony and Barbara Joyce at 2318 Amostown Rd, Sandy Ridge. Visitation will be held from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 27, 2025, at Colonial Funeral Home in Madison, NC. A celebration of Matt’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, April 28, 2025, also at Colonial Funeral Home in Madison. Interment will follow in the Sandy Ridge Presbyterian Church Cemetery.

Colonial Funeral Home, 127 Ellisboro Rd, Madison, is serving the family.
