Madeline Joyce Nickelston, 94, departed this earthly life for her heavenly home on Wednesday, December 4, 2024 at North Pointe of Mayodan.

A celebration of life service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, December 7, 2024 at New Vision Fellowship with Reverend Jeremy Parker and Reverend Paul Hooker, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in the Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. until 1:45 p.m. on Saturday at the church.

Madeline was born on May 28, 1930 in Stokes County to the late Troy and Nolie Joyce. She attended Pine Hall School, she was a member of New Vision Fellowship and retired from Burlington Industries after 30 years of service. Madeline loved her church and was the greeter for many years. After church on Sunday’s you could most likely find her and her beloved sisters at a local restaurant and then hanging out in K-Mart.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Wesley Nickelston; daughter, Vickie Lynn Nickelston; son, Gregory Mark Nickelston; great-grandson, Bentley Brim; brother, James Leroy Joyce and sisters, Betty Throckmorton and Joy Dean Hamm.

Survivors include her son, Darryl Nickelston (Lisa) of Walnut Cove; daughters, Lisa N. Bullins (Randy) of Madison and Tina McBride (Jerry) of Walnut Cove; eight grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; sisters, Christine Grubbs and Josephine Heath; special friend, Linda Baker and many nieces, nephews and extended family members.
