Louise Parrish Powers, 85, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, March 31, 2023 at her home.
The funeral service will be conducted at 3 p.m. on Sunday, April 2, 2023 at Summerfield Baptist Temple with Pastor Bobby Wilmoth officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends beginning at 2 p.m. on Sunday at the church.
Mrs. Powers was born on August 18, 1937 in Guilford County to the late Marvin Cleo Parrish and Gertie Barham Parrish. Her greatest joy was spending time with her beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a charter member of Summerfield Baptist Temple where she taught Sunday School and remained active by singing in the church choir. She will be remembered for her canning and gardening skills, as well as her love of shopping and visiting the Great Smoky Mountains.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her siblings, Jean Loftis, Irene Edwards and Jacqueline Bullard.
Survivors include her husband of sixty-five years, John W. Powers; children, Johnny D. Powers (Janelle) and Lisa P. Stanley (Brian); grandchildren, Heather Baker (Greg), Jon Powers (Morgan) and Jessica Powers; great-grandchildren, Zane and Jax Baker and Jonathan, Henry and Evelyn Powers; siblings, Bob Parrish, Marvin Parrish, Jeanette Loftis, Karen Bullard and Kathleen Williams and several special nieces, nephews and extended family members.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Community Hospice of Burlington for their attentive and loving care.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Summerfield Baptist Temple, Piano Fund, 7904 Winfree Road, Summerfield, NC 27358.
