Lois Marie Mabe Brown, 72, left this earthly life, Tuesday, November 15, 2022, at her residence.

The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, November 19, 2022, at Colonial Funeral Home Stokes Chapel. A private burial will follow.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, at Colonial Funeral Home Stokes Chapel and other times at the residence.

Lois was born August 26, 1950, in Patrick County, VA to the late George and Betty Jean Southern Mabe. She was a member of Danbury Baptist Church and was retired from Stokes County Health Department. She was a very good cook and enjoyed canning and gardening. Lois loved children and was very passionate about their wellbeing. “Nanny” was a selfless person who loved spending time with her family. She never met a stranger and would give anyone the shirt off her back.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Carol Wood.

Survivors include her husband of 53 years Thomas Wayne Brown; son, Christopher Wayne Brown (Dena); brothers, Richard, Garland (Susan), Phil (Anita), Mark Mabe, and David Mabe; sister, Judy Mabe; grandchildren, Kristin Bennett (Dillon), Zach Brown (Rebekah), Ashley Brown, Kynlee Casper, Kyndall Casper, Kourtnee Brown, Rosie Brown, and Ryker Brown; great-grandchild, Carsyn Bennett; nephews Jacob and Joel Mabe; and niece, Jessica Mabe.

Colonial Funeral Home Stokes Chapel in Sandy Ridge is serving the family.
