Lloyd Dean Sharpe, 87, passed away Wednesday morning, October 12, 2022.
A funeral service will be held at 2 PM on Friday, October 14th, at Madison United Methodist Church with burial to follow in Woodland Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, 1 – 2 PM, at the church.
Mr. Sharpe, a Rockingham County native, was born June 22, 1935 to the late Lloyd Bernard Sharpe and Hattie McCollum Sharpe. He was a proud Eagle Scout, a distinguished achievement he earned in 1950. Dean, a 75 year member of Madison United Methodist Church, held the title of the longest held membership. He was a civic minded gentleman who enjoyed giving back to his community. He was a member of the Dan River Masonic Lodge and was a past charter member of the Madison Jaycees. Having never really retired, he worked as Chief Executive Officer of Bruder / Sharpe, Inc. In the past he was the owner and operator of Suburban Sanitation and also Dean’s Village Shop, a mens clothing store. In later years, Paul Veach was part-owner of Dean’s Village Shop.
He is survived by his two children, Rom Sharpe of Greensboro and Lynda Sharpe of Lake Toxaway.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Kay Minton Sharpe; brother, Thomas Carter Sharpe and sister, Sybil Sharpe Hillis.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
