Obituary: LINDSEY LEON NEAL

Lindsey Leon Neal, the beloved husband of Eva Robertson Neal, departed this life on Monday, June 5, 2023.

He was a native of Rockingham County, North Carolina and was a resident of Georgia for the past 29 years. Attending the local public schools of Reidsville, he was a graduate of Booker T. Washington High School, Class of 1966. While at Booker T. High, he was an outstanding running back and was also known as “Speedy” by family and classmates. He also coached for the Reidsville Senior High Junior Varsity teams and the Reidsville Recreation Department. Mr. Neal was a retiree of Brown-Williamson Tobacco Company with 12 years of service and was formerly employed by the American Tobacco Company for 18 years. He was a former member and Deacon of West End Baptist Church, Reidsville and was a present member of The Link Baptist Church, Macon, Georgia where he served as a Deacon. He was avid sportsman with a penchant for the Washington Redskins football team and the UNC Tarheels.

His parents, Annie Mae Mc Clure Neal and George Dalton Neal; daughter, Marsherry Neal; grandson, Justin Martin; siblings, Fred Smith, George D. Neal, Jr., Pamela Neal and James Oscar Neal, preceded him in death.

Survivors are: beloved wife of 32 years, Eva Robertson Neal; sons, Darren A. Neal, Sr. (Pam) and Carlton L. Neal; step-sons, Michael Robertson (Judy) and Tyrone Robertson (Cierra); 12 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; special cousin/sister, Paulette Settle; sisters-in-law, Barbara Alverson (Ronnie), Bill Robertson (Kim), Mary Pritchett and Donnell Robertson (Patricia); devoted friends, Classmates, Ivory Courts, Vincent Bolden, Mary Neal, Wanda Gunn (George), Linda Williamson Blackwell, Mike Parker, Judy and “Teddy” Gordon; other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Sunday, June 11, 2023 from the West End Baptist Church, 805 Vance Street with Pastor Reginald Cook presiding. The family will receive friends Sunday from 1:30 until 2:00 p.m. at the church and may be contacted other times at 612 East Morehead Street. Public viewing will be Saturday afternoon at Johnson & Sons, 115 Holderby Street.
