Linda O’Neal French, 78, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 14, 2023, at Eden Rehab and Healthcare Center.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, August 18, 2023. at Mt. Hermon Baptist Church with Pastor Dennis Chapman and Pastor Greg Robertson officiating. The family will receive friends Thursday, August 17, 2023, from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at Wilkerson Funeral Home and other times at the family home. The burial will follow the service at the Mt. Hermon Baptist Church Cemetery.
Linda was born in Rockingham County to the late Howard and Willie Mae O’Neal. She was a faithful homemaker, loving mother, and wife; Linda especially loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was committed to her faith and was a longtime member of Mt. Hermon Baptist Church where she served in many different capacities. She loved to sing in church and was a member of the M&M Choir. Linda was an avid Atlanta Braves and UNC Tar Heel Fan. Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her sister Peggy O’Neal and brother Howard Jesse O’Neal.
Linda is survived by her husband of 59 years, Russell French; her sons Tim French and wife Shirley and Brian French and wife Tanya; grandchildren Jodi Butler and husband Allen, Adam French and wife Susan, Matthew French, Nikki Fuller and husband Murphy, and Alex French; great grandchildren Olivia Butler, Allyssa Butler, Elijah Butler, Jackson French, Declan French, Lemon French, and Owen Shelton; sister Shelby Cobb; and extended family.
