Lilly M. Grogan Boulding, born September 5th, 1945, passed away December 2nd, 2024, at her lovely home in Reidsville, NC. She has fearlessly fought cancer since 2017, and but for the last ten days, won every battle.
Of five generations born and raised in Henry and Rockingham counties, Lilly was different from the start. She courageously left home, her boot-legger beginnings, and her clan of five sisters when she was only sixteen.
Working multiple jobs while attending business school, she rose above her social status in life. She bought and paid for her first house when she was 41 years old, starting off her house-rental business. Once she and her 30-year partner, Ron, put their “brains and brawn” together, L&R Properties soared. Lil continued to simultaneously work as an Office Manager for Precision Walls in Greensboro, for thirty years.
Lil was a woman of stamina, hard-work, perseverance and class — which she lent to every situation. She was beautiful, tough, and a fighter, and that’s the way she went out. We consider it a badge-of-honor to have been in her life. She will be greatly missed, forever remembered, and always loved.
She is survived by her lifelong-love and partner, Ron Silvers of Reidsville; her son Charles Vincent Boulding of Eden, daughter Arenda Dawn Boulding, of Reidsville; sisters Frances G. Boyles of Ridgway, VA, Pauline G. Walker, of Eden; very importantly, her constant companion and best-little-friend Jackson; grandchild Christie Rose Boulding of Eden, as well as numerous other grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nephews and nieces.
Lil was Proceeded in death by her beloved grandson Michael Vincent Boulding, infant son Michael Ray Boulding, her Parents, Robert Jackson and Clara Beatrice (Belton) Grogan, and 3 of her sisters; Betty G. Jarrell, Jackie G. Wilson and Dorothy G. Southern.
