Leonza Bigelow departed this life on Saturday afternoon, November 12, 2022.
As a native of Rockingham County and a resident of Caswell County for the majority of his life, he attended the local public schools and was a graduate of Caswell County High School, Class of 1968. “Big”, as he was affectionately referred by family and close friends, was a retiree of Lorillard Tobacco Company and was an affiliate of Trinity Baptist Church. Leonza was known for his giving and unselfish spirit which won him an enormous circle of friends. We thank God for his empathetic nature and love for others.
His parents, Bessie Mary Bigelow Graves and Lacy Mc Laughlin; sister, Pearl Williams and a niece, Julandra Broadnax, preceded him in death. Survivors are: godson, Gikas Bigelow; sisters, Min. Shirley Carter and Rita Anderson; nieces, Lori Slade (Samuel), Tia Poteat (Michael), Pastor Angela Fountain (Richard), Felecia Harry, Tasha Harry, Aleciyah Johnson, Kiyla Glover, India Slade, Paris Banks and Treasure Fountain; nephews, Myjel Poteat, Mylyjael Poteat,, Cash Wilson, Richard O’Brian Fountain, Kingston Glover and Jase Broadnax; special friends, Mike, Jimmy, Larry, John Henry, Alex, The Thomas Family, The Slade Family, The Pinnix Family, “Hindu”, Rayfield, Jr., Clint, Sherman, Freeman, Adolph and Linda; other relatives, the community and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted 2:30 p.m. Friday, November 18, 2022 from the Trinity Baptist Church, 10613 Highway 150 with Pastor Angela Fountain presiding. The family visitation will be Friday from 2 until 2:30 p.m. at the church. Public viewing will be Thursday afternoon at Johnson & Sons.
