Leon Burnette, 68, died on Sunday, May 18, 2025 at his home.

The funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, May 21, 2025 in the Colonial Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Buster Tuttle officiating. Burial will follow in the Burnette Family Cemetery, 1288 Whitts Rd., Madison. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Tuesday at Colonial Funeral Home in Madison.

Mr. Burnette was born on September 20, 1956 in Richmond, Virginia to the late Frank Gordon Burnette and Elizabeth Taylor Burnette. He was a man of many trades that included logging and masonry. Leon enjoyed fishing and hunting and will be remembered for his humble and giving nature.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sisters, Dianne Lineberry and Vickie Williams.

Survivors include his wife of nearly thirty years, Margaret Williams Burnette; sons, Gary Burnette, Jeffrey “Buck” Burnette, Mark Burnette and Tyler Burnette; daughters, Renee Poole, Sue Dunlap, Cindy Burnette and Taylor Smith; grandchildren, Billy, Peyton, LeeLee, Keith, Ashlynne, Kristen, Jesse, Hannah, Jasmine, Joseph, Gary, Brianna, Taylor, Jr., Tyler, Jr. and Ryker; great-grandchildren, Waylon, Dallas, William, Coner, Clark, Andrew and Austin; brothers, Woody Burnette, Lonnie “Punk” Burnette, Steve Burnette and Donald “PeeWee” Burnette and sisters, Louise Tilley and Sissy Wilson.

Colonial Funeral Home in Madison is serving the family.
